Teeth Cleaning and Polishing Lone Tree Colorado Dentist

Teeth Cleaning and Polishing

What is involved when we "clean" your teeth and polish them may be more complex than most patients understand. In our Lone Tree Dental office our hygienists and doctors scale off calculus and curette the gingival tissue to assist in healing. This involves using the dental scalers in a cuff of gum tissue that surrounds each of your teeth. It is also described and scaling "under" you gums. Our Lone Tree Colorado dentists also serve patients in Highlands Ranch, Castle Pines, Centennial,Greenwood Village, Parker, Douglas County, Ken Caryl and the greater Denver area.

Plaque and Calculus

Plaque and calculus develop on your teeth quite rapidly. Some of our Lone Tree dental patients develop this faster than other. Home care... diet... and host bacteria determine how rapidly these deposits form. In most instances only a dentist or hygienist are able to remove these deposits with hand instruments or with the aid of an ultrasonic scaler.

Ultrasonic scaler

The ultrasonic scaler (cavitron) uses ultrasonic vibration to remove the tar-tar adhering to your teeth. In addition, our Lone Tree Colorado dentists are able to add antimicrobial solutions to this ultrasonic scaler to irrigate the gum tissue. Irrigation of the gum tissue with an antimicrobial increases healing of the gum tissue.

Baby tooth decay Lone Tree Dentist (303)694-9740

Baby tooth decay

Our Lone Tree Dentists received from Delta Dental information on their initiative for the Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation that I would like you to know. This program is in its third year and has increased awareness of expectant mothers from 26% to 69% on how dental issue can affect their baby.

Can you give you baby tooth decay?

Unfortunately yes. If you have cavity causing bacteria in your mouth mother and fathers can easily pass those to you baby. Sharing spoons or pacifier are some of the modes of transmission.
You should see your dentist regularly and maintain great home care for your children

Lone Tree dentist recommends the following:

  • Wipe you baby's gums with a washcloth several time a day

  • When teeth begins to show use a child's tooth brush to remove plaque

  • Check to see if you see staining on the surfaces of the teeth. These areas"could" be cavities or starting cavities.

  • Do not give your baby sugar water or juice at night to fall asleep with. Baby bottle decay can be devastating.

  • Consider having your child's first dental visit at one year old

  • You need to take care of your mouth also so schedule and exam regularly
